To keep your new home warm and comfortable during the cold season, it’s important to consider several key factors. Many people believe that simply installing high-quality insulation and a heating system is enough, but experience shows that this is only part of the solution.

Proper selection and installation of vapor barrier and waterproofing films are equally crucial. These films protect the roof insulation and the entire building from damage caused by excess moisture. By allowing moisture vapor to escape while blocking water penetration, these materials help maintain the effectiveness of the thermal insulation.

Waterproofing films are commonly used on roofs with slate, tile, or metal coverings. Thanks to their micro-perforations, waterproofing (hydro-barrier) films offer greater vapor permeability compared to vapor barrier films. Together, construction films and membranes shield the roof from moisture caused by rain, snow, condensation, and other sources.

Vapor barrier films are recommended for use with any roof type and material. Their primary role is to prevent water vapor generated indoors—such as from cooking, bathing, or laundry—from reaching and damaging the insulation layer. Without these barriers, moisture can accumulate and gradually degrade the insulation’s performance.

Today's range of roofing films and membranes is quite wide and varied in the price range. But all products of the segment are divided into the following types:

polypropylene films

polyethylene materials

superdiffusion membranes
